CONSERVATION
Conservation of land and wildlife is important to us. We work with the State and County Environmental Permitting Agencies, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to protect environmental features like trees, wildlife habitats and mangroves by seeking guidance in determining the least-disruptive options in terms of any potential impacts on native species of plant or animal life.
Capitol Homes takes special care to protect Florida’s unique wildlife. Gopher tortoises, which can live up to 60 years in the wild, are prevalent in the area, and both the tortoises and their burrows are protected under state law. To ensure that no tortoises are harmed during construction, we carefully inspect the property before land clearing or development takes place. If gopher turtles or their burrows are found, Capitol Homes obtains the required permits from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and carefully relocates each tortoise to help preserve our wonderful and varied Florida wildlife for generations to come.
