Our professional design consultant, Susan Gaynor, will take you through your design center appointment. She’ll walk you through the showroom, answering your questions, noting your preferences and making sure that your experience is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. The design center meeting takes around three hours, and this time will contribute to building upon the genuine excitement you feel about your new custom home.

How to Prepare for Your Design Center Visit

Your home is perhaps the single largest investment you’ll make in your lifetime, so it should be everything you’ve ever wanted in your dream home. The team at Capitol Homes shares a belief that a home is the true expression of the people who reside within, so we want to give you as much guidance as you need to ensure your home meets or exceeds your loftiest expectations.

To make sure that every one of your details is exactly what you want, we encourage you to bring along anything that helps you envision your finished home: a scrapbook, mood board, samples of fabric, paint, wood, granite and anything else that will help put your mind at ease that you’ve chosen the exact details that you’ll love for a lifetime.

Here are a few more recommendations to help you prepare for your design center visit:
1 Establish your budget, then build in a bit of wiggle room because nothing is ever exact to the penny.
2 Have a good idea of what you want. Knowing what items are non-negotiable to you, whether it’s must-have granite countertops or an intense dislike of subway tile. Knowing what you’re working with will allow you to go into the meeting able to immediately narrow down your options, saving tons of time on selections.
3 Bring color swatches. Knowing your color scheme will help you pick out complementary customizations.
4 Pay attention to the details. In the excitement, it’s easy to overlook the smaller things that will have an impact on your day-to-day living in your new home. Quartz countertops, easy-to-clean backsplash, or a spice cabinet in the kitchen, can all be easily forgotten in the moment but will alter the way your home functions once you move in.
5 Ask questions. We’re happy to answer any questions you have. Spend some time beforehand thinking about questions that you don’t want to forget to ask at the meeting and jot them down so you remember to ask them.

We genuinely believe that the only thing more exciting than building your new home is getting to control the design top to bottom, floor to ceiling, wall to wall. When you walk into our design center, you’re walking into endless possibilities for your new home’s design.
